Boston Association
The HAC Boston Association was established in March 1948 following the union
of the ‘American Association’ with the ‘Boston (1938) Society’, with the object
of ‘the maintenance and development of fraternal relations with the Ancient and
Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts and other formations in the USA and
Canada by the entertainment of such formations visiting London and generally to
return hospitality’.
The Association maintains the link between the Honourable Artillery Company (HAC)
and the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts (A&HAC) and
organises on behalf of the HAC the Company’s official visits to Boston and assists
with the A&HAC’s official visits to London, both of which occur on a ten-year
cycle. The A&HAC last visited London in 1996 and the HAC visited Boston in
2003, one hundred years after the first official visit to Boston (in 1903) following
the renewal of the Regiments' links after visits by the A&HAC in the late
1800’s. In the intervening years both Companies visit each other from time to
time in various numbers. In addition, the Association holds social functions
- both at Armoury House and elsewhere - in furtherance of its purpose.
Membership of the Association is open to all Regimental and Non-Regimental Members,
Active and Veteran, and currently stands in excess of one third of the membership
of the Company. The Management of the Association is in the hands of a Committee
consisting of a Vice President, an Honorary Secretary, an Honorary Treasurer and
an Honorary Membership Secretary. The President of the HAC holds the post of President
of the Association. Following the AGM held on the eve of Thanksgiving Day each
year the Association holds an Eve of Thanksgiving Supper.
To help alleviate the effects of the current postal dispute, the Notice and Application form for the Eve of Thanksgiving Supper is available for
download.
