The HAC's Policy on Environmental Sustainability

 
 

 
In May 2008 Green Tourism for London conducted a comprehensive Green Audit on the HAC awarding the business coveted bronze level recognition. The HAC were delighted to secure a good score at the bronze level of the award and are committed to making continued progress to secure a silver award in the future.
 
In the Green Audit summary Green Tourism for London commended the HAC for their progress and the excellent work that has been undertaken to establish recycling and encouraging suppliers to adopt more sustainable practices. 
 
HAC Environmental Sustainability Policy
 
The HAC is custodian of six acres of grassed grounds at the heart of the City of London and is committed to maintaining the quality of this environment both for those that work at the HAC, its clients and the wider community. The HAC has had an ongoing tree planting policy since 1996.
 
The HAC has invested in 15000 acres of grassland in the Brecon Beacons National Park and is committed to the preservation and sustainable management of this valuable environmental asset.
 
The Prince Consort Rooms has been built with high level insulation both in the floor and in the roof. Natural materials have been used wherever possible.
 
The HAC takes its responsibilities seriously and undertakes to take significant and lasting steps to minimise adverse environmental impacts and to conserve natural resources in its activities.
 
The HAC will wherever possible:
 
  • Minimise the use of non-renewable resources
  • Recycle supplies and materials and seek to ensure that suppliers do the same.
  • Monitor and analyse energy usage with the aim of reducing consumption where possible.
  • Raise environmental awareness amongst staff and others.
  • Avoid unnecessary water usage.
  • Avoid unnecessary distribution of printed paper.
  • Will make its best endeavours to ensure that cleaning materials are biodegradable and environmentally friendly
