The HAC takes its environmental responsibilities very seriously and undertakes to take significant and lasting steps in all its activities to minimise any adverse environmental impacts and to conserve natural resources.

THE HAC:

Has an active policy of recycling wherever possible. All waste is recycled appropriately including bottles, paper, cardboard, grass, cooking oil and wet waste.
Monitors suppliers to ensure they do the same
Encourages staff and clients alike to Reduce, Re-use, Recycle. Paper recycling bins are placed in all meeting rooms when in use.
Seeks to minimise the use of non renewable sources.
Monitors and analyses energy usage with the aim of reducing consumption where possible.
Has introduced low energy light bulbs wherever practical.
Has replaced the high energy par can uplighters in the Prince Consort Rooms with low energy LED lighting.
Holds regular meetings to raise environmental awareness amongst staff and others.
Avoids unnecessary water usage.
Avoids unnecessary distribution of printed paper.
Makes its best endeavours to ensure that cleaning materials are biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
Encourages and promotes the use of public transport for event attendees.
Has an active green meetings policy.
Is employing external expertise to undertake a feasibility study regarding major environmental improvements.
This policy is reviewed regularly. Last reviewed October 2012.
