Spotlight on… The Prince Consort Rooms - 31/10/2017

History

Adjoining Armoury House and built on the original plot of the Victorian drill hall, the Prince Consort Rooms wow organisers and guests every time they visit. The impressive, steel frame of the historic structure is still visible today giving the space a real sense of occasion, in-keeping with the size and type of events we hold in the rooms. In 2007 the Prince Consort Rooms were officially opened by HM The Queen after having undergone an extensive £6.5million re-build and refurbishment.

Despite its ultramodern facilities, the space still retains a lot of original features and character including the steelwork which frames the spectacular glass roof plus memorabilia from the Regiment. It’s the HAC’s rich history that gives the venue its unique feel and help cement it in its surroundings.

Features

As well as creating a show-stopping first impression, the Prince Consort Rooms have an extensive list of practical and aesthetic features which follow through on its early promise. The vaulted glass ceiling floods the rooms with natural light, an essential ingredient for energetic guests whether you’re holding an exhibition or a gala dinner. The height of the space is another inspiring attribute of the rooms which helps create atmosphere.

Arrivals to an event held in the Prince Consort Rooms will enter through a private courtyard, perfect for welcome drinks and barbecues. The dedicated entrance into the space also gives organisers the opportunity to brand or theme their event throughout their visitors’ entire experience. A huge bonus for large parties, conferences and exhibitions.

As a purpose-built event space, the Prince Consort Rooms have all of the latest AV equipment and facilities. Within this comes an in-built atmospheric lighting system which includes pinspot lighting and LED colour change uplighting. So whether you need to create the perfect ambiance for a winter wonderland banquet, or a staged event like an awards do, our in-house experts can work wonders with the flick of a switch (or two…).

Something else that clients have told us makes a big difference to them is that the Prince Consort Rooms have level access, so are totally accessible. The room hire also comes with complimentary, secure wireless broadband internet access.

Events

The Prince Consort Rooms are either used as two separate spaces, or one large area and lend themselves perfectly to a wide range of events. From weddings and conferences to team building activities and military commemorations, our Events Team has hosted different events which have transformed the space almost beyond recognition.

We also host the most fabulous Christmas parties in the space. This year our theme is the Northern Lights which includes a starry sky drinks reception and a spectacular display of the aurora borealis which guests can enjoy during a festive feast.

Capacities

When used as one large space, the Prince Consort Rooms can accommodate up to 450 in a theatre-style layout, 400 for dinner or 700 for a reception or party. If your numbers are smaller, speak to one of our Events Team about how we can divide up the room to meet your needs. Don’t forget, we also have six other rooms and five acres of beautiful gardens that can be hired separately or in addition to booking the Prince Consort Rooms.
